MANUFACTURING

A.L.A. Rail’s machine shop manufactures standard and non standard switches, crossings
and turnouts following even the most complex drawings. The company operates from
a 12,000 sq.ft machine shop, and a one acre storage yard containing some of the most
efficient shop floor and installation equipment in the industry with qualified
personnel operating:

• 4 Fixed Bed Milling Machines of varying lengths.
• 1 Planer/Miller, with a 45 ft moving bed capable of producing 'E' type
  switches. This machine is only one of two of its size in South Wales
  and is therefore suitable for other machining applications.
• 1 Profile Cutter.
• 6 tonne all terrain Forklift.
• 3 Horizontal Presses, 2 of which are of Finlay type, rail and girder presses,
  the third being a light bender suitable for narrow gauge track.
• 2 Rail Saws.
• 4 Radius Drills.
• 1 Furnace, complete with 120 stone vertical press, suitable for the
  production of presses steel baseplates used by the MOD, and heavy
  metal industries.
• Combined Shears and Punch.
• Goliath Yard Crane.
• Winchester 2000 Lathe.
