A.L.A. Rail specialises in
the manufacture and installation of railway switches
and crossings,
and has a management
team with wide experience in the rail industry.
The company operates from a 3 acre site in South
Wales with a 36,000 sq ft
machine shop purpose-designed
for handling rail – just 5 minutes away from
the M4 motorway
A.L.A. Rail offers the following

according to the client’s requirements; tailor
made solutions are a
particular strength.
Manufacture
A.L.A. Rail manufactures to standard designs of
Switch and Crossing Assemblies
in both flat bottom
and bullhead rail sections, in all sizes, but
also has the
capability to manufacture to a client’s
own specifications in a wide variety of gauges
for applications in mining, theme park transit
systems, tramways, craneage, slipways and preservation
societies.
Additionally, A.L.A. Rail manufactures
ancillary rail products such as pressed steel plates,
and
other welded components.
Maintenance and installation
A.L.A. has a trained workforce operating under
supervisors with competences in the specific
fields of operation. These teams carry out periodic
inspections, reports, maintenance,
renewals and/or
installations of
switches and crossings, together with
any related
works.
These works may include
the uplifting of tracks, preparation of formations,
concreting, weighbridges, road crossings and
barrier works. A further area of competence is
the
installation or renewal of crane track. The Company
carries out mechanical
tamping,
including turnouts,
using its own Matisa
Road/Rail Tamper.
All works carried out by the
A.L.A. Rail’s
workforce are to CDM and Regulatory Health
and
Safety Requirements, and to the client’s
own specific standards. The Company is
Link-Up
approved, and is qualified to ISO 9000:2000 standards.
