2006 has started well at
A.L.A., with us completing two major contracts
at Bombardier, Derby. Installation and
Maintenance (I&M) rose to the many
challenges faced, and with a little ingenuity,
team work and a heater, were even able
to overcome the problem of laying grout
in below zero temperatures!
Working alongside civil engineers, GF Tomlinsons,
the two projects entailed the laying of
track on concrete beams for a new Traverser,
and the laying of track within the confines
of inspection pits at ‘S’ Shop,
working to tolerances of +/-1mm.
Yet again, the support of A.L.A.’s
Machine Shop highlighted the company’s
all round capabilities, working closely
with I&M in rapidly responding to
Tomlinsons’ need for manufactured
components.
